I’ve started my quest to learn how to use Adobe After Effects, and what better way to start than with Lightsabres!

Interesting little documentary.

A huge lightsabre fight with over 100 people, organized in Bristol via Facebook this past weekend.

I do love the TED talks and this is a real good one from the director of District 9.

Unable to attend the actual conference in person, Neill Blomkamp instead recorded this video. I can listen to this kind stuff all day. It’s deep stuff, and makes me even more excited for his next project, which hopefully features ideas he goes over in this talk.

This video has been linked to by just about every blog out there, but I think it’s pure genius, so I’m joining the band wagon.

The eBay auction claims its an original prop from the movies, and is made out of genuine, eh, wood.

For $30000 I’d want it to actually hover!

It will be produced by Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne who’s last sci-fi project was the family orientated ‘The Last Mimzy’.

The Movie’s have long been in development, due perhaps to their political theme and the huge scope of the stories, which covers centuries in time. Asimov admitted that the original inspiration for the stories was the ‘Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire‘.

Shaye said “Our idea to renew the worldwide audience’s appetite for the story,” [but] “This is not a script you can knock out in six months,”.

Buzztown will be following its development.

This Vargas-esque portrait of actress Carla Gugino as Sally Jupiter, painted by James Jean, makes a brief appearance in the trailer and the piece will apparently play a role in introducing Sally Jupiter in the film.

What’s that? you haven’t seen ‘Weekend of the Walking Dead’, well go watch it, I’ll wait here…..

…welcome back, crap isn’t it! Well maybe not bad for a first filmmaking attempt.

Anyway as I was saying, I likes me some Zombies movies, but always get a little sad at the end, because I want to know what happens to the heros after the credits roll.

Well that problem was solved the day I picked up The Walking Dead, by Image Comics. You see, this story doesn’t end,  I guess it will one day, but for now, there are no plans to finish it up. In fact Issue #50 was the highest seller so far and has gone for a second print run. So its future looks good.

The Walking Dead is centered around a small-town police officer from Cynthiana, Kentucky, his family, and a number of other survivors who have banded together in order to survive after the world is overrun with zombies. As the series progresses, the characters become more developed, and their personalities shift under the stress of a zombie apocalypse. Fighting growing despair — and occasionally each other — the group searches for a secure location which they can finally call home.

The only problem with this book is that I can’t wait till the next issue each time. It’s very adictive. Volume 8 of the graphic novel has just come out and it’s on it’s way to me right now.

I highly recommend starting from the beginning and giving it a go. check it out here.

Set to start in August the series will feature “lost” stories from each of the 10 Doctors.
