Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Movie Announced

One of my favourite book series, Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy has been announced, in the Hollywood Reporter, as finally getting a movie green-light.

It will be produced by Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne who’s last sci-fi project was the family orientated ‘The Last Mimzy’.

The Movie’s have long been in development, due perhaps to their political theme and the huge scope of the stories, which covers centuries in time. Asimov admitted that the original inspiration for the stories was the ‘Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire‘.

Shaye said “Our idea to renew the worldwide audience’s appetite for the story,” [but] “This is not a script you can knock out in six months,”.

Buzztown will be following its development.

Emmerich is in charge of directing a movie based on Asimov books, he is no in charge of the “book cycle” or cronology, he must get it right the first time, no ammendments following the story compressed for the movie with a good script.

if he in fact plans to do a full 3-D foundation similar to 10,000 B.C he will screw his change to enter the best sci-fi movies of all time, hope he is bluffing in all his comments…or his career will end and possibily end up decently rich but not famous for anything, its his chance to prove he is a capable of surpassing star wars.
